Life’s a Lab

We all want to nurture our kids’ curiosity. Here’s a great opportunity!Science Chicago: Life’s A Lab, billed as “the world’s largest science celebration,” continues this summer.

The Morton Arboretum and more than 100 partners around Chicagoland are participating in this year-long series of science programs geared toward kids, teachers and parents that started in September 2008.

Did you know you can tell the temperature outside by listening to a cricket chirp? Or that a mosquito has 47 teeth? Ouch! Life’s a lab…with amazing science all around us. Get your “wow” on and get into it with hands-on science fun at tons of local parks, neighborhood libraries and dozens of FREE fab festivals across the region all summer long.

Be a part of it all here at the Arboretum.

Children ages 3–6 can explore the forest ecosystem with their grandparents at “Grandparents Discovery Day,” from 1-2:30 pm on September 7. We’ll take a short hike to discover the scents, sights and sounds of late summer and early fall. $7 for members or non-members.
At “Exploration Station” children ages 4–12 accompanied by an adult will experience the wonders of the Arboretum’s Schulenberg Prairie from 1-2:30 pm on September 13. Trees of Northern Illinois are featured October 11. $9 for members, $11 for non-member.

Registration is now open. Call 630-719-2468 or visit www.mortonarb.org.
