Acorn Express Circulating Tram Pilot Program

[ comment ] [ email article ] [ print article ] [ rss feed ]

The Arboretum’s Acorn Express tram experience is a tour. You purchsae a ticket, get on, and then ,while listening to our astoundingly knowledgeable tram drivers, you soak in both the information and the stunning beauty of the Arboretum’s natural diversity in a  30- or 60-minute tour through the East and/or West sides.

Starting Monday, August 8, we will pilot a circulating tram program. The pilot program will run for one week through August 14. The circulating tram will allow visitors to get on and off the tram at designated stops to explore the gardens, plant collections, and natural areas at the 1,700-acre Morton Arboretum.  Tram Driver Interpreters will narrate the tour. You can purchase a wrist band for the tour at the Visitor Center Information Desk. Wrist bands must be obtained at the Visitor Center; the trams willl not be able to  pick up additional passengers along the route. There is a limit of 200 wrist bands per day available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Standard Tram Tour pricing applies: $5 adults, $6 non-member adults; $4 children; $5 non-member children. Visitors holding tram tour coupons may use their coupons for this experience.

Location: Passengers can board and disembark at (1) the tram circle, (2) P8/East Woods, (3) Big Rock Visitor Station, (4) P1/Main Parking, (5) Thornhill Education Center, (6) Prairie Visitor Station, and (7) P33/Godshalk Meadow.

Time: Trams depart the Visitor Center on the hour from 10 am to 3 pm.

As always, tram tours are weather dependent. The Arboretum will make decisions by 9 am if the daily schedule must be adjusted because of weather.
