Do you have a grub problem?

[ comment ] [ email article ] [ print article ] [ rss feed ]

Here’s a very simple method: pick a one foot by one foot patch of your lawn where the brown dead grass meets the nice green grass. With a shovel, cut three sides of the square and pull back the hunk of sod. If the brown part rolls away easily, it means the roots have been eaten off and you probably have grubs. Count any grubs you see. If you have more than five lawn grubs, you have a problem.
