I have a few cherry, apple and peach trees grown here locally. When is the best time to spray for insects for each of these types? Also what product should I use? I have picked my cherries for this year and about half of them had worms in them. My peach tree produced fruit but quite a few leaves turned brown and fell off. I have a few branches with just peaches and no leaves. My apple trees have fruit but what can be done to protect them for consumption?

I had a potential customer tell me one time “if I want apples I’ll go to the store”. In reality this is probably the cheapest and less hassle way to get fruit.
That being said, I know the great feeling you can get from being able to go out in your own yard and pick fruit off your own tree. That’s one of the reasons we garden.
I found a publication a few years ago called “Midwest Tree Fruit Spray Guide”. It is a co-operative effort from Midwest states extension services. You can probably find it through your search engine. If you can’t find it, let me know and I can e-mail you a copy of the one I have, it is the 2007 version. You might be able to get it through your local extension office or website.
