petunias and racoons

I have some beautiful potted petunias on my front porch. Last night someone – either a racoon or squirrel – dug up the flowers and pulled them out of the pots. I have bird baths around for water so I don’t think they were looking for water. I know there are remedies to keep racoons away but can’t remember what they are. Maybe someone can help me.
