SAVING A TREE

I had an older Silver Maple in my backyard. I know they aren’t the best trees but it provided much needed shade for my patio and yard. It must have been hit by a car at one time, it had a gouge in the its side. So, I started taking using a small stick, a few times a week to clean out the area. I also used red pepper flakes to discourage the ants who were trying to invade the space. And low and behold today, some 3 years later, the gouge is almost closed over by bark. The tree healed itself with a little help from a friend.
